Next to the cathedral, in place of today’s Royal Palace, once stood the old court, where Leonardo lived for some time and worked on his designs. In the inner palace’s courtyard, he performed tests and experiments dedicated to his flying machines.
During Leonardo’s stay in Milan, we must imagine a city centre in turmoil that concentrated much of its efforts on one of the world’s greatest cathedrals. So today, amidst the chaotic metropolitan background, we can pause, gazing at this majestic cathedral, aware of the immense work involved in its construction.
The next destination is the notorious Castello Sforzesco. A nice walk through the characteristic centre of Milan leads us to the place that symbolises the collaboration between the noble Sforza family and Leonardo.
