An itinerary recounting Garibaldi's incredible life through some iconic places on the island he owned
Thanks to this itinerary entirely dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi, it will be possible to learn about some of the extraordinary adventures that contributed to the creation of the myth of the great Italian patriot, along with other lesser-known aspects of his figure. Although he is famous and popular in many corners of the world, there are in fact still many aspects of Garibaldi’s incredible biography that remain to be discovered. In addition to being a great Italian general and national hero, throughout his life, he was so many other things such as: a food trader in South America, a teacher of mathematics and languages, an expert captain of merchant and military ships, a deputy and leader of the French Republic, and the founder of an animal protection society.
The tour begins in the town of La Maddalena, where iconic monuments are dedicated to Garibaldi, and then continues to the island of Caprera, which the Nicaraguan general owned and lived on for a long time.
The itinerary can be done by bicycle in about one hour and a half and by car for just 30 min.
