An immersion in the 12th and 13th century CE in Annweiler
This tour brings you among castle ruins immersed in the beautiful Palatinate Forest. The theme is Middle Ages, with a special connection with the very King Richard I Lionheart, King of England. Among ancient walls and trees, the path is immersed in the typical atmosphere of the Palatinate forests, offering a past that just awaits to be discovered. The theme is undoubtedly medieval, in a setting that provides perfect harmony between nature and history. Through wild woods, you will explore three historical sites: Scharfenberg, Anebos and the imperial castle of Trifels.
It is possible to leave the car at: Parkplatz Ahlmühle 76855 Leinsweiler. From here follow the line uphill to the first chapter: “A breathtaking view”.
Trifels Castle requires a low-price ticket for the visit and it must be purchased directly at the entrance.
Once completed the visit at Trifels castle, climb down the same route walked before and simply follow the asphalt road that runs west along the hills previously travelled till the starting point.
This itinerary covers sections of unpaved paths/trails, even uphill, so comfortable clothes, hiking shoes and enough water and food are recommended (don’t forget sunscreen for the summer months!).
